Quick answer

A deep clean is a thorough cleaning of the whole flat — typically twice a year (spring, autumn). It includes washing windows from the inside, cleaning appliances (inside the fridge, oven, microwave), defrosting the freezer, deep carpet cleaning and washing the bathroom tiles. It costs 200–280 CZK/h and takes 4–8 hours for a 60–100 m² flat.

A deep clean is a “big reset” for your home. While regular cleaning keeps the surfaces tidy, a deep clean focuses on what doesn’t get done every week — inside appliances, behind furniture, in corners, under carpets. After a properly done deep clean your flat should look “almost like new”.

When to book a deep clean

Optimal frequency: twice a year. The best times:

  • 🌸 **Spring (March–April)** — after winter, when you open the windows and put away heavy winter clothes. The classic “spring clean”.
  • 🍂 **Autumn (September–October)** — before the heating season, when there’s the most dust left from summer and windows are dusty after the sunny days.

Plus special occasions:

  • Before moving out or moving in
  • After illness in the household (thorough disinfection)
  • Before a special event (a party, Christmas, a visit from your parents 😅)
  • After renovation or painting (removing construction dust)

What a deep clean includes (full checklist)

Living areas

  • Washing windows from the inside (frames, sills, blinds)
  • Dusting all surfaces (including hard-to-reach ones — tops of cupboards, light fittings, pictures)
  • Vacuuming + thorough mopping of floors into every corner
  • Deep carpet cleaning (extraction method, if you have carpets)
  • Washing radiators, doors and door handles
  • Emptying and wiping cupboards inside (on request)

Kitchen

  • Fridge — emptying, washing all compartments, disinfection
  • Freezer — defrosting (if needed) and washing
  • Oven — thorough degreasing inside
  • Microwave — inside and out
  • Cooker hood + filters
  • Hob + appliances (coffee machine, toaster)
  • Kitchen units — tops of cupboards, inside the cupboard under the sink
  • Disinfecting the sink and around the taps

Bathroom + toilet

  • Washing the tiles — all walls, not just the shower area
  • Removing limescale from taps and the shower head
  • Cleaning joints (silicone between the bath and tiles)
  • Disinfecting the toilet bowl, seat and cistern
  • Cleaning mirrors + glass surfaces
  • Cleaning drains (shower, washbasin) — simple, not sewer work

How long a deep clean takes

As a guide (Czech flat codes: “2+kk” = 2 rooms + kitchenette, “2+1” = 2 rooms + separate kitchen):

  • 40 m² (studio, small 1+1): 3–4 h
  • 60 m² (2+kk / 2+1): 4–5 h
  • 80 m² (3+kk / 3+1): 5–6 h
  • 100 m² (4+kk, larger flat): 6–8 h
  • 120+ m² (family house): 8–10 h, often 2 cleaners

Price of a deep clean

Hourly rate 200–280 CZK in Prague, 180–250 CZK elsewhere. For a 60 m² flat:

  • Hourly rate 220 CZK × 5 h = 1,100 CZK
  • You pay the cleaner 1,100 CZK directly — no commission to the platform

You can pay extra for additional services: washing windows from the outside (where reachable), ironing after the clean, carpet cleaning with the extraction method (typically 150–250 CZK/m²).

What to prepare before a deep clean

  1. 24 h in advance, message the cleaner with the details (m², type of cleaning, special requests)
  2. The day before: clear personal items (papers, clothes) off surfaces so the cleaner can work
  3. Arrange access — keys, alarm, a place for the rubbish bags
  4. Empty the fridge only lightly — the cleaner will clean it
  5. If you have allergies or prefer eco products, mention it in advance

Frequently asked questions

Should I buy cleaning products in advance?+

No. Most cleaners bring their own (several brands for different surfaces, eco alternatives). If you prefer a specific brand or eco products, say so in advance.

Does someone have to be home for the whole 5 hours?+

Not necessarily, but we recommend it for the first deep clean. You can give the cleaner your keys (trust builds over several visits) or use a smart lock. You can also agree that the cleaner sends you a few photos when she’s finished.

Can I add washing the windows from the outside?+

For a flat in a panelák (prefab apartment block) — yes, if the cleaner is qualified for work at height (ask in advance). For a panelák above the 4th floor — no, work at height requires a specialised company with the proper certification.
