Quick answer

Post-renovation cleaning is a special service that removes construction dust, cement residue, paint smudges and dusty windows. It takes 6–12 hours for a 60–100 m² flat and costs 200–350 CZK/h (more than standard cleaning because of the HEPA filter and special equipment). The best time: 1–2 days after construction work is finished, when the dust has settled but not yet set in.

Renovation, painting, new floors — all building work leaves behind a layer of fine dust that an ordinary vacuum cleaner tends to blow around rather than remove. That’s why professional post-renovation cleaning is a specialised service with its own equipment (HEPA filter) and method.

When to book post-renovation cleaning

Optimal timing: **1–2 days after the work is finished**. Reasons:

  • Day 0 (the day after completion) — the dust is still in the air and will settle back on surfaces after cleaning
  • Days 1–2 — the dust has settled, surfaces are dry, ideal for wet wiping
  • Day 3+ — the dust sets in and is harder to remove

If you can’t wait (e.g. you’re moving in straight away), you can book the cleaning immediately — just expect that a few days later you’ll need to wipe the dust off the shelves once more.

What post-renovation cleaning includes

Step 1: Vacuuming with a HEPA filter (90 % of the work)

An ordinary vacuum cleaner blows the finest dust back into the air. A HEPA filter (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) captures 99.97 % of particles from 0.3 microns — i.e. even the finest construction dust from sanding.

  • All surfaces (shelves, window sills, light fittings, tops of cupboards)
  • Floors — carpets + parquet + tiles
  • Walls — removing dust from fresh paint (gently, with a dry cloth)
  • Heating and radiators — where most dust settles
  • Emptying cupboards inside if they were open during the work

Step 2: Wet wiping

After vacuuming comes wet wiping — with special microfibre cloths so the dust doesn’t spread.

  • All surfaces (wiped gradually from top to bottom)
  • Doors, handles, light switches
  • Windows from the inside (frames, glass, sills)
  • Tiles in the bathroom + kitchen (removing mortar residue)

Step 3: Special tasks

  • Removing paint residue from glass, tiles and surfaces (with a special solvent)
  • Cleaning drains of cement dust
  • Dismantling and thoroughly cleaning the kitchen cooker hood (if there was sanding)
  • Washing all windows inside + outside (if accessible)

How long post-renovation cleaning takes

It depends on the **level of dirt** + the **size**:

  • 40 m² (small renovation, painting only): 4–5 h
  • 60 m² (larger renovation — new floors): 6–7 h
  • 80 m² (full renovation + demolition): 8–10 h
  • 100+ m² (full renovation + new bathroom fittings): 10–14 h, often 2 cleaners

Price of post-renovation cleaning

Hourly rate 200–350 CZK in Prague (higher than standard cleaning because of the special equipment). For a 60 m² flat after new floors:

  • Hourly rate 250 CZK × 7 h = 1,750 CZK
  • You pay the cleaner 1,750 CZK directly — no commission to the platform

Tip

Some construction companies offer a “final clean” as part of the renovation price. Ask in advance — BUT typically it’s just a quick sweep, not a thorough clean. For a perfect result, book a professional anyway.

What to prepare

  1. Tell the cleaner in advance what kind of renovation it was — new floors / painting / full renovation
  2. Clear all items out of the areas to be cleaned
  3. Make sure there’s access to water and electricity (the cleaner has her own equipment but needs power)
  4. Prepare rubbish bags (the cleaner bags the waste; you pay for removal if needed)
  5. If a special paint or varnish was used, mention it (the cleaner may need a specific solvent)

Frequently asked questions

Does post-renovation cleaning need a professional, or can a regular cleaner handle it?+

We recommend a specialised cleaner with HEPA equipment. A regular cleaner might stir up the dust and you’ll spend days wiping. The “Post-renovation cleaning” filter helps you find cleaners who offer this service — ask about their equipment in advance.

What if stains remain even after professional cleaning?+

Some stains are permanent (cement residue dried into parquet). A professional should recognise them on arrival and point them out. If she finds a problem, you’ll hear about other solutions (a different service — e.g. varnishing, sanding) in advance, so you know the costs.

How long after post-renovation cleaning does the dust come back?+

If the building work was properly finished (everything dried out, no rough building material left), the dust won’t come back. If final “varnishing” or “grouting” is still going on, fine dust from that work may mean you need another light follow-up clean after a week.
