Quick answer

To find a cleaning lady in Prague, use an online cleaner directory such as HledámÚklid, a cleaning company, recommendations, Facebook groups or classified ads. You will get the right replies faster with a specific request: flat size, district, schedule, tasks and the language you need. Agree on the price upfront and pay for the first clean after it is done.

Looking for a cleaning lady in Prague but not sure where to start? Prague is home to about 375,000 foreign residents, according to the Czech Ministry of the Interior (August 2026), so you are far from the only one asking. This guide walks you through the whole process: where to look, what to write, what it costs, how to handle language and keys, and how to keep a good cleaner once you have found her.

Where to find a cleaning lady in Prague: 5 options

There are five main ways to find a cleaning lady in Prague: an online cleaner directory, a cleaning company, personal recommendations, social media groups and classified ads. Each has different strengths and risks.

Where to look for a cleaning lady: options compared
OptionProsConsBest when
Online directory (e.g. HledámÚklid)Profiles with photo, services, rate and languages; you choose the person; you pay her directlyNew profiles have no reviews yet; checking is largely up to youYou want to choose yourself and keep the same cleaner
Cleaning companyInvoice, cover when someone is ill, teams for big jobsHigher price (21 % VAT if VAT-registered), not always the same personYou need an invoice or a one-off big clean
RecommendationsExperience of someone you trustSmall choice; good cleaners are often fully bookedA friend or colleague is happy with their cleaner
Facebook and expat groupsFast replies, lots of offersNothing is verified, lots of messages, often off-the-books workYou are in a hurry and know how to vet people
Classified adsLocal, freeAnonymous offers, often no photo or priceYou live outside the big cities

Wherever you look, check people the same way: phone number, Company ID, experience, language and a clear price agreement. Our full checklist is in How to choose a reliable cleaner in Prague, and the pros and cons of companies are in Cleaning company vs independent cleaner.

Do cleaners in Prague speak English?

Some do, but you should not assume it. In the EU's Eurobarometer survey (2023), 41 % of people in Czechia said they can hold a conversation in English, compared with 47 % across the EU; for Russian it was 14 %. Every profile on HledámÚklid lists the languages the cleaner speaks, so check that first. When you post a request, say clearly that you need English: you will then hear only from cleaners you can actually talk to, which saves frustration on both sides.

How to write a request that gets a good cleaner

Good cleaners respond to requests that make it clear what, where, when and on what terms. A vague “looking for a cleaning lady, Prague” brings plenty of replies but few useful ones.

Request template

Looking for a cleaner for regular cleaning of a 2-room flat (55 m², one bathroom) in Prague 3 (Žižkov), every two weeks, ideally Thursday morning. Priorities: bathroom, kitchen, dusting and floors, sometimes ironing. We have a cat. Cleaning products and a vacuum are at home. I speak English only. I would like one trial clean first, then a regular slot. I will be at home for the first visit.

What to include:

  • Size and layout of the flat, number of bathrooms and toilets.
  • City and district. Share the exact address only with the cleaner you agree with.
  • Frequency and timing: one-off, weekly or every two weeks; day and time of day.
  • Tasks and priorities: what must be done every time and what only now and then (windows, oven, fridge, ironing).
  • Pets, allergies and products: do you have your own, or should she bring hers?
  • Language you need.
  • Whether you will be at home or she will need a key.

On HledámÚklid you post a request and cleaners in your area can see it; the first one to accept contacts you. 39 CZK is reserved on your card and charged only when someone accepts. If nobody accepts within 6 days, you pay nothing. If you already like a specific cleaner in the directory, send her a direct offer for the same amount; you pay only if she accepts within 48 hours.

How much does a cleaning lady cost in Prague?

Each cleaner sets her own hourly rate; on HledámÚklid the most common range is 300–360 CZK/h, and in Prague 300–340 CZK/h (directory data as of 14 October 2026). You pay the cleaner directly, in cash or by bank transfer, and the platform takes no commission from the cleaning.

For a market comparison: according to Czech babysitting and cleaning platform Hlídačky.cz (May 2026), the average rate cleaners list on their profiles is 291 CZK/h in Prague and 218 CZK/h nationwide. These are advertised rates, not prices actually paid. The same source says a regular clean most often takes 3 hours.

Three hours with a cleaner from our directory costs roughly 890–1,090 CZK. Travel, the cleaner's own products or weekend slots may cost extra, so agree on them first. More detail is in How much does a cleaner cost in Prague.

Your first clean, step by step

The first clean is a trial for both of you: be there, show your priorities and pay when it is done. This order works well:

  1. Confirm the details in writing: date, time, estimated hours, rate, products and what is included.
  2. Prepare the flat: clear surfaces, show where the products are and how you sort the rubbish.
  3. Walk through the flat together at the start and say what matters most.
  4. Let her work without checking every step; save questions for the end.
  5. Walk through again at the end and mention any problems straight away and specifically. Under the Czech Civil Code, defects should be reported without undue delay.
  6. Pay the agreed amount in cash or by transfer; if she is self-employed, you can ask for a receipt.
  7. Agree on the next visit or a regular slot, and leave a rating on the platform.

Keys, trust and keeping a good cleaner

Hand over keys only once you trust each other, and always with a clear agreement: note who has which key, how many copies exist and how they come back if you stop working together. Discuss the alarm code separately, and keep valuables, cash and documents somewhere that is not part of the cleaning.

A good cleaning lady chooses her clients as much as they choose her. You keep her with a fixed day and time, paying on time and in full, cancelling well in advance (agree upfront what happens with late cancellations) and giving clear feedback, both praise and criticism. Expect prices to move: cleaning services in Czechia rose by 4.0 % in 2025, faster than overall inflation of 2.3 % (Eurostat). Tipping is voluntary; we cover local habits in a separate article.

Post a cleaning request

Describe what you need. You pay 39 CZK only if a cleaner in your area accepts.

Frequently asked questions

Most offers are in online cleaner directories, Facebook and expat groups, and with cleaning companies. In a directory like HledámÚklid you see a profile with photo, services, rate and languages and choose the person yourself. In groups you have to check everything on your own.

How much should I pay a cleaner per hour in Prague?+

Each cleaner sets her own rate; on HledámÚklid the most common range is 300–360 CZK/h (as of 14 October 2026). According to Hlídačky.cz, the average advertised rate in Prague is 291 CZK/h. Also agree on travel and products.

Yes, but not every cleaner speaks English, so check the languages on each profile. Mention English in your request and only cleaners you can communicate with will reply.

No, but it is a good idea for the first few visits: you can show your priorities and see the result. Hand over a key only once you trust each other and agree how it will be returned.
